The Halloween series ranks high on our
list of horror movies. Its a tough task to try to recreate
or continue such a classic line, but Thank God someone
was up to it.
Halloween 2007, for the first time covers the childhood and
background of Michael Myers, one of the most horrific
horror movie villains to date. It happens that
Michael was a boy, born into in a bad environment that
helps shape his evil tendencies, "The Perfect Storm" so to speak.
He has a stripper for a mother, who lives with an abusive boyfriend
and a sleazy sister. Michael was psycho regardless, but this background
provides some interesting answers and motivational cues, nonetheless.
There's a lot of violence right from the get go and probably
too much profanity. Yet the story flows and there's a
a decent sense of terror throughout the movie.
There's more killing and more suffering
for victims in this one, so be prepared.
Fortunately, Zombie attempts to stick to the original
story line, rather than recreate an inferior version.
But this version is slightly more dark and gruesome.
The cast is superb, including many top notch
horror celebrities. Roddy McDowell, Willian Forsythe,
and Danny Trejo to name a few. It's just plain loaded.
Zombie made a wise choice in the casting of Michael.
You need a big Pro wrestler type to commit some of the
physical brutality as Myers, to help make the story believable.
The faults of the movie are minor in our view.
The storyline deviates slightly from the original and due to the graphic
brutality, this movie is intended for an adult audience only. But who's complaining?
We're just so happy this movie wasn't butchered and that
THE MADMAN BEHIND THE MASK IS BACK! Rob Zombie proves
his mettle as a horror movie director,
by producing a grade A horror flick. We strongly recommend Halloween
2007 to our horror friends.
